He goes to Rome, intent on avenging the murder of his wife and son by killing the new emperor Commodus. When
Agent Ethan Hunt takes holiday on a rock climbing expedition, he is rudely interrupted
by a pair of missile- launched, self-destructing designer sunglasses encoded with
instructions for his latest mission. It seems Biocyte Pharmaceuticals is missing
Chimera, a skin-corroding virus that was manufactured to boost sales of their
newly developed super-strength antiviral formula. Unfortunately it has fallen
into the hands of Sean Ambrose, a business- minded MIF traitor with a thirst for
stock options. Once the public learns that Chimera will melt the flesh off their
bones within 27 hours of injection, the price of Biocyte's antidote will skyrocket.
Can Ethan Hunt stop him before he takes over Biocyte and infects the city of Sidney?
| 2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter has learned to live with his bullying Uncle Vernon, his callous Aunt Petunia and the constant whining of his greedy, spoiled cousin Dudley. He's even learned to live with sleeping in the cupboard under the stairs. Harry's relatives have just as reluctantly learned to live with the unwelcome presence of their orphaned relation, a constant reminder of Petunia's "wayward" sister and brother-in-law and their mysterious and untimely demise. Even the impending arrival of his 11th birthday offers no excitement for Harry--as usual, there's little chance of cards, presents or any kind of birthday treat. This year, however, is different. On his 11th birthday, Harry learns that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. Invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. At Hogwarts, he finds the home and family he has never had.

2. The Sum of all fears
When
the president of Russia suddenly dies and is succeeded by a man about whom little
is known, tension increases as old fears ignite new paranoia. Director of Central
Intelligence Bill Cabot recruits a young analyst from the Russia desk, Jack Ryan,
to supply insight and advice. Then the unthinkable happens: the capital of Chechnya
is leveled by a nuclear bomb. America is quick to blame the Russians, and mistrust
escalates despite Ryan's certainty that other players are at work. He is right.
Terrorists bent on provoking open war between the two nations are moving behind
the scenes to manufacture and escalate a conflict. When they successfully detonate
a second bomb outside Baltimore during the Super Bowl, the world is pushed inexorably
towards war... unless Ryan can supply the needed proof to stem the tide of disaster
in time.

| 3. The Bourne Identity
The
spy thriller opens as an amnesiac is rescued at sea by the crew of an Italian

the bank account number embedded in his hip. Although completely without identity
or background, he possesses an array of extraordinary talents in fighting, linguistics
and self-defense that speak of a dangerous past. In the present he is disoriented
and wary as he is propelled into an urgent search to discover who he is and why
his life has taken a perilous turn. A Zurich safe deposit box yields an assortment
of passports, a hefty load of cash, an automatic weapon and a name--Jason Bourne--with
a Paris address. What it means remains a mystery, but Bourne quickly realizes
that although he knows no one, there are people who recognize him--and do not
wish him well. When he meets Marie Kreutz, a hard-luck German-born wanderer, he

4. Road Trip
Cheating
is when you're in a committed relationship and have sex with another person....It's
not cheating if you live in different area codes, if you are too wasted to remember
it, or if you are with two people at the same time because they cancel each other
out. But it is definitely cheating if you videotape it and someone accidentally
mails the tape to your girlfriend. This is what happens to Josh, who must now
drag two college buddies, and one not-so-eager-kid who happens to own the car,
on a raucous 1800-mile road trip from Ithaca, New York to Austin, Texas to save
his lifelong romance.
| 4. Monsters, Inc.
Monsters,
Inc. is the largest scare factory in the monster world and the top kid Scarer
is James "Sully" Sullivan, a huge intimidating monster with blue fur,
large purple spots and horns. His Scare Assistant, best friend and roommate is
Mike Wazowski, a lime green, opinionated, fiesty, one-eyed monster. Scaring children
isn't such an easy job--monsters believe children are toxic and that direct contact
with them would be catastrophic. Inside the factory can also be found the factory's
crab-like CEO, the beguiling serpent-haired receptionist Celia and the sarcastic
chameleon monster, Randall Boggs, who schemes to replace Sully as Monsters, Inc.'s
top Scarer. Visiting from the human world is Boo, a tiny girl who turns the monster
world upside-down.
| 4. K19 the widowmaker
Submarine movies usually make for tense drama. There's the danger factor--being surrounded by metal-crushing, mega-tons of water, and the claustrophobic factor--watching the men scurry around in tight quarters like rats. Yet, with all that, to throw in a near nuclear reactor meltdown plus rampant radiation leakage and sickness, well, that's where K-19 comes in--and it isn't pretty. In 1961, when Russia was known as The Soviet Union, the heads-of-state rushed the production of a super- nuclear sub so they could show the U.S., their sworn enemy, they meant business. As the film starts out, the submarine is considered cursed and far from seaworthy, but the military powers send in Captain Alexi Vostrikov (Harrison Ford) anyway to get the job done. The unyielding captain takes enormous risks with the boat and its crew to test it, butting heads with the previous and well-liked Capt. Polenin (Liam Neeson), who is now second-in-command. When the reactor starts to meltdown, Vostrikov makes some tough choices--decisions his crew finally recognize as necessary and sound ones. He and the men race against time to prevent a Chernobyl-like nuclear disaster which threatens not only their own lives but has the potential to ignite a world war between the super powers. Tense drama, for sure.

5. Shrek
Once
upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ornery ogre named Shrek whose
precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale
characters. There are blind mice in his food, a big, bad wolf in his bed, three
little homeless pigs and more, all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord
Farquaad. Determined to save their home--not to mention his own--Shrek cuts a
deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona to be Farquaad's
bride. Accompanying him on his mission is wisecracking Donkey, who will do anything
for Shrek... except shut up. Rescuing the Princess from a fire-breathing dragon
may prove the least of their problems when the deep, dark secret she has been
keeping is revealed.
| 5. Ice Age

acorn-crazy saber-toothed squirrel known as Scrat. This quartet of misfits unexpectedly,
and reluctantly, comes together in a quest to return a human infant to his father.

secret, evil plot, these "sub-zeros" become the world's first heroes!

5. Minority Report
Based
on a short story by famed science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, this action-detective
thriller is set in 2054, a time when Washington, D.C., police are able to utilize
a psychic technology--Pre-Cogs, three psychic beings whose visions of murder have
never been wrong--to arrest and convict murderers before they commit their crimes.
Destroyed by a tragic loss, Chief John Anderton--the head of the Pre-Crime Unit,
has thrown all of his passion into a system that could potentially spare thousands
of people from the tragedy he lived through. Unfortunately, it is he who is ultimately
accused of a "future" murder of a man he hasn't even met. With no way
to defend himself against the charge of Pre-Crime, Anderton has only 36 hours
to uncover the truth behind the question he has spent the past six years working
to eliminate: Is it possible for the Pre-Cogs to be wrong? |
